Update on Chico

Chico is a miracle squirrel! He must be part cat, as I can think of no other animal with so many lives!
He's eating, he's drinking (just water, folks...he's not allowed to get into the vodka) he's antsy to get out and play. However, he is stuck in his terrarium for three days while his shoulder heals.
I took him to the vet yesterday morning. He spent some time in the hospital being poked, prodded and cleaned up. This did NOT make him happy. The vet cannot give him vaccinations. It's illegal, as he is a wild animal. Also, Kevin will now have to go to the doctor and have his bite wound examined, but everyone's sure Chico is rabies-free. It's just a precaution.
He's on antibiotics and I am to watch his wound carefully. I washed it yesterday, but am supposed to leave it alone now, since it is scabbed over. Apparently, Chico will take care of it himself. I'm not giving him any grasshoppers while he is healing, since he gets so excited hunting them down and I don't want him to tear open his cat-tooth wound. I wonder if he'll be proud of his scar?
I have to say, evilly, that it's sort of nice having him like this. He is so cuddly! He just wants to be held. Ok, that's not quite true - he wants to get down and scamper and check on all his nests, but he is content to cuddle in my lap and wash my fingers and at bedtime, he INSISTS on being held for many minutes. And he wants a lullaby. Such a demanding little creature!
At any rate, it looks like he'll be fine. Next week, he'll be back to normal. Well, that is if we survive medicating him every morning and night. He's not having much fun with that part.
Thank you, all, for your kind wishes and thoughts. Looks like this little squirrel has beaten death yet again!

Chico,
You should thank your 13 lucky stripes that Kevin was there to rescue you. Imagine if you had been at Colleen's house, you would have been a goner. As soon as your better you should go catch Kevin the biggest, fattest grasshopper as a thank you present.
